Who is telehealth therapy suitable for?Potentially anyone with access to a telephone, smart phone, tablet, laptop or computer with internet can receive a telehealth service. Telehealth is suitable for people who are unwell and unable to leave their homes, live in non-metropolitan areas, lead busy lives, travel regularly, or those that prefer the convenience of an online consultation. Telehealth sessions can feel quite different to meeting in-person, this is ok. Your clinician is experienced in undertaking telehtelah consultations and will guide you through the process. If you are uncomfortable or have any concerns, please bring them up with your clinician.
-
How do I prepare for my telehealth session? You will be sent a link via email which will take you directly to your video session at the time of your consultation, alternatively you can expect a phone call from your clinician if you have requested a phone consultation. In preparing your space, it is recommended that you find a quiet, comfortable, safe and private indoor space, and turn off any other devices or notifications that may be distracting. Ensure you are connected to the internet and your connection is strong. Turn on your webcam and microphone and allow access to them prior to the session. Your clinician will be able to guide you through the process. Always discuss any concerns or ask your clinician questions if you are unsure or need further clarity. Similarly, please don' hesitate to Contact Us.

What equipment do I need? For audio only calls the only equipment you need is a reliable telephone (landline or mobile). For video calls you need: - a reliable device such as a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer. - web camera, speakers and microphone built-in to your device, or external add-ons. - reliable internet connection, data and an up to date operating system. * a wired ethernet connection is recommended for a more stable connection, thought private Wifi is usually adequate. Public Wifi is not recommended. Please note that clients are responsible for costs associated with their own equipment and data usage.
-
How do I connect to my telehealth session?Once you have booked a session you will receive an email with a link to your video session. Is telehealth suitable for everyone? No, online therapy may not be appropriate for people who need a high level of care, particularly those that have complex and/or acute mental health issues and/or are medically compromised and require in person care. It is not suitable for people who have reduced capacity to use technology (either know how or cognitive impairment). Barriers to engaging in telehealth may include visual or hearing impairment, language or communication barriers, as well as some mental health symptoms and conditions. Some interventions and assessments are not suitable for telehealth. Safety is paramount so in an emergency, if you are in crisis, in danger or at risk of harm to self or others then please call 000 or visit your nearest hospital emergency department. Telehealth consultations should ideally occur in a private, quiet, comfortable and safe indoor space. If you do not have access to an appropriate space then telehealth may not be the most appropriate option. Telehealth from a car is not recommended but may be a better option for some people. Please ensure it is never from a moving vehicle! If you are unsure if telehealth therapy is appropriate for you, please consult your GP or healthcare practitioner to discuss your needs further. Your suitability may change over time and should be regularly reviewed by yourself and your primary care provider.

What is the difference between a Counsellor and a Psychologist?Counsellors and Psychologists are all qualified healthcare professionals who offer mental health support. They work with people experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological issues to help bring about effective change and enhance wellbeing. The two main types of therapists are counsellors and psychologists. The main differences are their qualifications, areas of expertise, as well as the types of treatments and therapies they offer. Counsellors use various therapeutic techniques to provide guidance and emotional support to people dealing with emotional, social or behavioural challenges. They help clients identify goals and potential solutions to problems. A psychologist is a practitioner with extensive training in psychology who can assess, diagnose and treat a broad range of issues using various therapeutic approaches. They can conduct assessments, provide evidence based therapies such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and develop tailored treatment plans to address their clients' unique needs. Our clinicians have varied skills and focus areas such as supporting people with anxiety, addiction, couples counselling, depression, etc. Each clinician's specific focus areas can be found in the Meet Our Team section, by looking at the individual clinician's profile. If you are unsure which clinician is the right clinician for you, please contact us or speak to your GP.
